Afghanistan's only women's radio station to be relaunched
The Afghan government has lifted a ban on Radio Begum, the country's only women's radio station, the Associated Press reports.
The agency recalled that the ban was imposed due to the radio station's cooperation with some "unauthorized foreign media outlets."
After repeated requests from the Radio Begum administration, which is obligated to operate in accordance with Afghan law, the country's Ministry of Culture has allowed the station to resume broadcasting.
Radio Begum began its operations in 2021, just months before the change of power in Afghanistan.
The unique feature of the radio station is that all content is created by women. Radio Begum's affiliated satellite channel, Begum TV, broadcasts from France and offers programming aimed at Afghan youth.
