Yesterday, August 15, the first face-to-face meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia in more than 4 years took place in Alaska.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin held three-on-three talks at Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Anchorage, the US. Both sides described the meeting as constructive and productive, but there was no talk of an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

The talks lasted almost three hours, after which Putin and Trump appeared before reporters and held a joint press conference.

The US president, in a half-hour interview with Fox News, rated the day of the talks as "10 out of 10." He said he had a "very cordial" one-on-one conversation with the Kremlin leader after the joint press conference. Trump added that it was now up to Volodymyr Zelensky to reach an agreement to end the war. He advised the Ukrainian president to make a deal with Putin. Trump promised not to think about new sanctions against Russia for the next 2-3 weeks.
