The Belgian government has decided to expand military assistance to Ukraine. Prime Minister Bart de Wever announced the allocation of 1 billion euros for 2025 at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev, the UNIAN news agency reports.


According to the source, the Prime Minister said he plans to provide this amount of assistance every year in the future.


According to De Wever, this funding will serve to increase Ukraine's defense capabilities and prepare Europe to defend itself against possible Russian aggression.


Belgium will also deliver F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Two this year, two more next year, some of which will be used for spare parts. The Prime Minister added that this figure may increase in the future.
