Construction of two major energy facilities begins in Afghanistan
The construction of two large energy facilities - a wind power plant and a solar power plant - has begun in Afghanistan, RIA Novosti reported, citing the national energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).
The wind power facility will be located in Herat province and will have a total capacity of 200 megawatts. In the initial phase of the project, the station will generate 43.2 megawatts of electricity.
Company representatives say that this will effectively utilize Afghanistan's vast wind potential due to its geographical location. The country has great potential as a "wind corridor."
The ceremony marking the start of construction was attended by Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar, Economy Minister Din Mohammad Hanif, and Herat Province Governor Nur Ahmad Islamjar.
