Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has announced plans to build a special prison on a separate island in an effort to strengthen the fight against corruption. He said the prison would be designed exclusively for people involved in corruption.

"I will take drastic measures against corruption. I am ready to die for this nation and state. I am not afraid of the mafia, because the police chief, the military commander, and the teachers are on my side," the president said.

According to Subianto, the groups most affected by the looting of public funds are teachers, doctors, medical workers and farmers. For this reason, he said that he considers it the main task of his administration to direct budget funds only to improve the welfare of the people.

In response to objections to budget cuts, the president stressed that the government is firmly committed to improving the people's living standards.
