The Israeli military reported airstrikes against Hezbollah in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon. According to AFP, the strikes targeted underground military infrastructure and weapons supply routes.

The Israeli military claims to have destroyed facilities used by Hezbollah to manufacture and store weapons, as well as border facilities used to smuggle weapons from Syria into Lebanon.

In addition, the detection of a drone belonging to Hezbollah intelligence in Israeli skies is also cited as one of the reasons for this operation. The Israeli command stated that "the army will not tolerate terrorist threats and will strengthen security measures."

Hezbollah described the Israeli move as a violation of the previous ceasefire agreement. Israeli troops were supposed to withdraw from Lebanese territory on January 26, but this deadline was not met. Tel Aviv, however, stated that Hezbollah's military infrastructure in southern Lebanon must be destroyed and that the ongoing operations will not stop until this demand is met.

Tensions in Lebanon could further complicate the situation in the region, while the international community is urging the parties to abide by the ceasefire agreement.
