Abu Ammor Junip, the leader of the Arakan Salvation Army (ARSA), has been arrested in Bangladesh, where he fought attacks by Buddhist militants against the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar.

Bangladeshi police said Junipi entered the country illegally and was involved in activities aimed at tarnishing the state's image.

Abu Ammor Junipi, also known as Ataullah, played a key role in the political and military aspects of the movement, operating mainly in the areas bordering Myanmar and Bangladesh.
