Pakistan expels undocumented Afghans
According to the Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi of Pakistan, from the end of this year, it will be prohibited for Afghan citizens to stay in Islamabad without relevant documents, Tolo News reports.
It is noted that the deadline for receiving the necessary documents is December 31, 2024. After this date, all Afghan nationals will be required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to remain in the country.
"After December 31, no Afghan will be allowed to stay in Islamabad with our documents. If they want to stay, they need to get a residence permit from the Commissioner's office. We will give more details in the coming days, but after this period it will not be possible to live in Islamabad without a permit," he said.
Some migrants' rights activists emphasize the need for a joint committee between Afghanistan and Pakistan to solve the problems faced by Afghan migrants.
Earlier, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that about 36,000 Afghan immigrants were forcibly deported from Pakistan.
