Restrictions on employment of migrants increased in 47 regions of Russia
According to Verstka, restrictions on the employment of migrants were introduced in 47 regions of Russia in 2024. The restrictions mainly affect migrants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The largest number of bans was imposed in the Krasnodar Territory (99 types of work) and the Tver Region (82). The main restrictions for foreigners concern taxis, public transport, trade and housing and communal services.
Also, more than 80,000 migrants were deported from Russia in 2024. There are no restrictions in major economic regions such as Moscow and St. Petersburg.
