Russia has again delivered massive blows to Ukraine's energy facilities
Russia launched a mass attack on Ukrainian energy facilities with more than 90 missiles and about 100 drones. There were emergency power outages across Ukraine. Previously, the parties were conducting negotiations on not striking each other's energy facilities.
On the morning of November 28, Russian troops launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine's energy system. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushenko.
"Energy has come under mass attack of the enemy again. Attacks on energy facilities are being organized all over Ukraine. The transmission system operator "Ukrenergo" hastily turned off the electricity. When the security situation improves, the consequences will be determined," he wrote on his Facebook page.
Explosions took place in Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Volyn, Roven, Khmelnytsia, Kirovograd and Kyiv regions, the Ukrainian press reported. There are no reports of casualties or injuries.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, this is Russia's 11th attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities in a year. "Energy workers are working to provide backup power supply systems wherever possible," the report says.
According to Ukraine's HHK, Russia used more than 90 missiles during the attack, including 57 X-101 cruise missiles and about 100 attack drones. Air defense systems managed to shoot down 79 missiles and 35 drones.
It should be noted that in October, the Financial Times and other sources reported that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to stop attacks on energy facilities, mediated by Qatar, had begun. However, it is noted that these negotiations are currently facing difficulties and no long-term agreement has been reached. No further information is available at this time regarding the next steps in this process.
