Taliban launches retaliatory operation against Pakistan
The Taliban, in response to Pakistani attacks on Afghanistan, captured several checkpoints on the Pakistani border and killed 19 Pakistani soldiers.
Local media are reporting that Emirati forces are advancing along the Durand Line. Afghan Defense Minister Mawlawi Yaqub issued a statement, stressing that any attack will be retaliated against and that it is their duty to defend the homeland.
In response, the Pakistani military bombed Afghanistan's Paktia province, killing five civilians. Earlier, Pakistani airstrikes had killed 46 Afghan civilians.
