The "price of divorce" has doubled in Tajikistan
The President of Tajikistan has signed a document that provides for an increase in the state fee for annulment of marriage. The law will come into force upon its official publication.
According to the new amendments to the Law "On State Duty":
Upon application by one of the spouses - from 75 to 150 somoni (from 97 thousand to 195 thousand somoni);
For a joint application - from 375 to 750 somoni (from 487 thousand to 974 thousand somoni);
Based on the court's decision, fees will be increased from 525 somoni to 1,050 somoni (from 682,000 to 1,364,000 somoni).
The country's parliament has previously explained such measures as aimed at reducing the number of rulings.
According to official data, 4,117 divorces were registered in the first half of 2025, which is 291 fewer than in the same period last year. Nevertheless, government representatives assess the situation as worrying.
