Uzbekistan to introduce "Halal" label for products and services
Starting from May 1 of this year, products and services certified in accordance with the requirements of the Institute of Standards and Metrology of Islamic Countries will be marked with the "Halal" sign. This was announced in the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On approval of the Regulation on the procedure for certification of products and services in accordance with the requirements of "Halal"."
In accordance with the resolution, the following proposals were approved by the Technical Regulation Agency of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Religious Affairs:
➖Establishment of certification bodies for products and services in accordance with "Halal" requirements;
➖Giving priority to standards adopted by the Institute of Standards and Metrology of Islamic Countries and internationally recognized in the certification process;
➖From May 1, 2025, to allow products and services certified in accordance with this resolution and the established requirements to be labeled with the "Halal" mark.
According to the document, the Technical Regulatory Agency of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Committee for Religious Affairs, is required to conduct accreditation of the "Halol" certification body within six months, involving internationally recognized organizations.
A standard draft for the shape and size of the "Halal" sign will also be developed and approved.
