Zelensky: "Russia does not want peace, they need war"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin's response to his proposal for a 30-day ceasefire on the frontline, calling it "highly manipulative."
"Putin is certainly afraid to tell President Trump directly: he wants to continue this war, to kill Ukrainians," Zelensky said.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Moscow is deliberately imposing such conditions on the ceasefire that the situation is becoming increasingly complicated. "Putin does not say no directly, but he drags everything out and makes it impossible to make normal decisions," Zelensky noted.
The Ukrainian President noted that the United States is ready to organize a process of monitoring and verifying compliance with the ceasefire terms. He believes that this monitoring can be ensured with the direct support of the United States and Europe.
"The conditions we are setting are simple and understandable. However, the other side is putting its own interests above all else. Yes, the only non-constructive side is Russia. They need war," the Ukrainian leader said.
