8 members of the "Jihadists" movement were arrested in Kashkadarya
In Kashkadarya, 8 members of the "Jihadists" movement were sentenced to terms ranging from 6 to 10 years and 6 months. According to the State Security Service, it was reported that some of the members of the community had expressed an intention to emigrate.
During operational-search activities conducted by officers of the Kashkadarya Regional Department of the State Security Service with the involvement of internal affairs officers, a secret community of the "Jihadi" religious extremist movement was exposed.
In particular, a resident of the Karshi district, a highly dangerous recidivist, who was convicted several times for committing crimes stipulated in Articles 155, 159, 244 prim 1, 244 prim 2 and other articles of the Criminal Code, established an illegal religious community in 1977, attracting 7 citizens born between 1964 and 1986, residents of the city of Karshi and the Karshi district.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the group members had been holding meetings in their homes every ten days since January 2024 to discuss the establishment of a "caliphate".
They also tried to instill extremist ideas in the minds of other citizens in order to expand their ranks by distributing audio and video materials about jihad, hijrah, and caliphate from ideological preachers of international terrorist organizations through social networks.
It is noted that the leader and 4 members of the group were previously found guilty of committing crimes under Articles 159, 244, Part 1 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.
The Karshi District Court for Criminal Cases found these individuals guilty under Articles 159, 244 prim 1 and 244 prim 2 of the Criminal Code, and sentenced them to imprisonment for terms ranging from 6 years to 10 years and 6 months.
