Fight at a nightclub in Tashkent: one person in serious condition
A fight broke out at 02:30 on March 16 in a nightclub in the Yakkasaroy district of Tashkent. According to official information provided by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital, a citizen born in 1995 had a fight with an acquaintance born in 1985. A person born in 1990 who tried to separate them was beaten.
As a result, the victim was hospitalized with a brain injury, facial lacerations, and alcohol poisoning. He was reportedly in critical condition and was placed in an induced coma after a 5-hour surgery. It is known that the victim has two children, and his relatives are demanding that the culprit not escape punishment.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 277 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is currently ongoing.
Similar incidents have occurred before. In February, a man who caused a ruckus inside the Verona computer club in Fergana beat up the club's manager. He claimed to be the son of a businessman and would buy the club if necessary. The suspect and five of his accomplices were arrested in connection with the crime.
Also in 2018, famous freestyle wrestler Jamshid Kenjaev was stabbed to death after a fight with security guards at the Aurum-898 nightclub. The perpetrators were given long prison sentences by the court.
Such incidents are common in nightclubs and restaurants. In 2024, more than 61,000 criminal cases were investigated in Uzbekistan, and 3,223 people were imprisoned under Article 277 of the Criminal Code. The number of such incidents is likely to increase further if security measures are not tightened.
