Kazan mosques to provide charity iftar during Ramadan
Charity iftars are also held daily during the holy month of Ramadan in mosques in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.
Abdurrauf Zabirov, imam-khatib of the Mirgozyon mosque, told the IslamNews news agency that, as in previous years, 250 people are being served iftar every day.
The menu usually includes first and second courses, salads, meat products, fruits, nuts, and sweets, along with tea. Iftar begins with dates and water, followed by the evening prayer. After the prayer, everyone gathers around the table.
"The chefs are not limited to traditional pilaf, but try to diversify the menu as much as possible. Great attention is paid to purchasing quality products. The wishes and comments of the iftar guests are also taken into account," says imam Zabirov. According to the agency's source, the iftars are held at the expense of donors.
In addition, "suhoor boxes" are also distributed to eat before the morning prayer.
"Those who wish can stay for Tarawih prayer after the meal, in which one juz (30 chapters) of the Quran is read every day. Thus, the khatmi (full reading) of the Holy Quran is completed during the month of Ramadan," said Abdurrauf Zabirov.
