Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon are scheduled to sign a historic agreement on the delimitation of the state border during talks in Bishkek on March 12-13.

This was announced by Muratbek Azimbakiev, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Azimbayev said that the state visit will include official events, as well as bilateral meetings with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adilbek Kasymaliyev. It is also expected that Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon will adopt a joint statement and sign an agreement on the state border and other bilateral documents.

As a reminder, on February 21, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed an agreement on border delimitation. The Kyrgyz-Tajik border is more than 980 kilometers long, and the delimitation process has been ongoing since 2002. Relations between the two countries have repeatedly been strained due to disputed areas on the common border.
