Turkish officials urge public to be wary of disinformation
We previously reported that 106 suspects, including Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, were detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Turkish Prosecutor General's Office.
The Istanbul mayor and other suspects are suspected of aiding a terrorist organization, committing bribery, extortion, fraud, and other crimes as part of a criminal organization.
Today, March 20, the Head of the Communications Directorate under the Turkish President, Fahrettin Altun, announced that some political circles, especially opposition representatives, are trying to exert ideological pressure on this investigation process.
The head of the department, without knowing the details of the investigation, sharply criticized those who are slandering the country's president, calling it a provocation aimed at undermining the independence of the judiciary.
He also urged the public to rely on official sources and be wary of disinformation, asking Turks not to believe unfounded reports about the investigation process.
