Woman jailed in Uzbekistan for teaching Quran has been arrested in Turkey
Hanifa Mirganieva, who was previously imprisoned in Uzbekistan with her husband for teaching children the Quran, had sought asylum in Turkey. Unfortunately, she was re-arrested on December 30 during a raid on her residence in that country.
The prosecutor's office released Mirganieva after finding no evidence of wrongdoing. Despite this, the Uzbek citizen has been held in the Chatalja immigration detention center for 15 days.
Mirganieva, a mother of seven children who has been living in Turkey for several years, suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes and other ailments. Her difficult life in prison has also affected the health of a Muslim who has taken on the great responsibility of educating children in Islam. However, it is a pity that she, like many other believers, cannot live peacefully abroad.
