US President Donald Trump said in an interview with ABC News that he believes Vladimir Putin wants to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
During the interview, the journalist recalled Trump's previous comments - he called Putin's recent missile attacks on Ukraine "unnerving and unprovoked."
Trump also said at the time that Putin "maybe doesn't want to stop the war, but is just deceiving me." Therefore, the journalist openly asked the US president: "Did Putin deceive you?"
Trump responded, "Yeah, maybe he's fooling me a little bit. But I think he wants to stop the war."
The White House leader also emphasized that Putin's original goal was to occupy all of Ukraine.
