Russia extends deadline for migrants to legalize their status
Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended the deadline for labor migrants to legalize their status. A decree to this effect appeared on the Legal Documents portal.
According to it, foreign citizens or stateless persons who are illegally on Russian territory must regularize their legal status or leave the country by September 10, 2025.
In December 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree requiring migrants to legalize their status or leave the country by April 30. The document was issued against the backdrop of a tightening of Russia's migration policy that began last spring.
Starting from February 5, a register of controlled persons was launched in Russia, which includes foreigners who have violated migration legislation.
